JOHANNESBURG – JUNE 22, 2011 - Continental Outdoor Media, with their partners The Strategic Partnership Group (SPG), a Bombela Concession Company partner in the Gautrain project, have launched their advertising opportunities at the six new Gautrain stations at a function held at their Head Office in Bryanston. Continental Outdoor and SPG were awarded the exclusive advertising rights for the full rapid link line at all the nine stations last year. In addition to the Sandton, Rhodesfield and Marlboro stations which were launched over the FIFA World Cup period, the additional advertising opportunities at the six new stations are available to advertisers from 1 July 2011.
The advertising opportunities include large format lightboxes, GauFrames and digital platforms that can be packaged or bought individually to suit marketers needs. Each format that has been developed for the Gautrain environment is designed to complement the architectural style and aesthetics of each station creating a seamless bond between the architecture and brand art. Brand new to South Africa are the new digital sequential screens that follow commuters up and down the escalators at the Sandton station, similar to those found in the London Underground.
The Gautrain is largely aimed at commercially active people that need to travel between Johannesburg, Tshwane and OR Tambo International Airport. Forecasts indicate a projected 120 000 passengers per day by the end of 2011.
