Barry Sayer, President of FEPE International, the global Out-of-Home (OOH) advertising association, and Executive Chairman of Continental Outdoor Media, will be opening the 54th annual FEPE conference in Germany on Thursday 19 June 2013. The theme of this international congress in Berlin is "Breaking Down Barriers". This year sees one of the largest South African contingents with 18 local OOH industry delegates attending.
Sayer commented, "I am proud that South Africa is making its mark on the international OOH front. It is inspiring to see so many South African outdoor specialists interacting with outdoor business leaders on this level. Bazil Lauryssen, CEO, and Adelaide McKelvey, Director of the rest of Africa, with be joining me in representing Continental Outdoor Media. I am particularly pleased that for the first time the Board of FEPE International includes senior Board Directors from all of the major internationally listed global Outdoor Advertising Companies."
The "Captains of Industry" debate will include representatives from global giants Clear Channel, JCDecaux, CBS Outdoor, Ströer, WPP Kinetic Worldwide and Primesight UK. There will also be a session featuring the national associations entitled "A view from the Americas" featuring Nancy Fletcher of the OAAA based in Washington, USA and Rosanne Caron of OMAC in Toronto, Canada.
Sayer was quoted in Asia OOH in August 2012, "FEPE provides a rallying point for the OOH industry globally. In other words, a central communications point where outdoor advertising companies can seek support and guidance on matters affecting their business which they may think are local but have usually been addressed by other outdoor companies or country outdoor associations in other parts of the world. The annual congress provides opportunity for member to meet, network and hear from leaders in the industry about the latest developments, be that of a legislative, technology or sales and marketing nature."
The keynote speaker will be Swedish futurologist and trend spotter, Magnus Lindkvist, a highly regarded internationally trend visionary. Charles Clayton, Director of the Institute of Risk Management said, "What a great presenter. Magnus Lindkvist not only knows his subject intimately but he clearly also does extensive research on his audience. The result is incredibly impactful, the audience entranced and fully involved. I'd travel a long way to listen to Magnus impart his message."
Mike Baker, CEO of the Outdoor Media Centre London will present an overview of the success of OOH surrounding the Olympic Games in the UK earlier this year and Ron Graham will be joining from Singapore, providing insight into how the OOH business in China and other parts of Asia is developing. Lorna Tilbian of Numis will be giving a perspective on the wider media landscape. A full list of speakers is featured below.
