Continental Outdoor is cooking
Continental Outdoor Media recently held a massive potjie cook-off for media agencies and direct clients at the Indaba Hotel in Fourways. It was an important networking event for top out of home (OOH) advertisers and Continental Outdoor executives, as well as being a lot of fun.
Each team were assigned a station and Alasdair Muller, the MC for the day, introduced the esteemed judges, Sandra Gordon, owner and founder of Wag the Dog Publishers and host of the annual MOST Awards, Piers Proctor owner and chef at The Local Kitchen, and Alessandro Buzzi, executive chef at the Boma, Indaba Hotel.
Teams played a number of minute-to-win-it challenges to compete for ingredients for their potjie. It was then up to each team to get their fires started and work their magic in their potjies. The judges had a stringent set of criteria by which to judge each team: Cleanliness (5%), Team Spirit (15%), Originality (20%), Taste (40%), and Presentation (20%).
The winning team leader Lynne Diab from the FNB team Pot Luck won the Executive Chef Prize of a Digital OOH campaign worth R100 000 (or $10 000 in Africa) for the best presentation. The Pot Masters team from OMD/OMG won the First Prize for the third year in a row, and each received a Marmernova marble chopping block hamper. The Pioneering team from Posterscope/Carat/Vizeum won the Second Prize of a picnic basket each. The Third or Spirit Prize was won by the Mind my Potjie team from Mindshare and they each took home a wine and chocolate combo. The guests of honour were the beautiful Miss South Africa 2015, Liesl Laurie, her first princess, Ntsiki Mkhize, and second princess, Refilwe Mthimumye who officiated at the prize-giving, along with Bazil Lauryssen, CEO of Continental Outdoor. Many media and marketing industry professionals were spotted taking selfies with these special guests. “We would like to thank all our valued clients who participated in this steaming hot Continental Cook-off. It was a great success and it created a hunger to enhance a healthy competitive spirit and team ethic amongst us all,” says Lyn Jones, group marketing manager at Continental Outdoor Media.
